Find your bearings with tinnitus
Tinnitus Compass helps you understand ringing, buzzing and other phantom sounds, explore evidence-based management options, and evaluate marketed products without confusing advertising claims with established evidence.
Start with what you’re experiencing
Tinnitus is the perception of sound without an external source. It may sound like ringing, buzzing, roaring, humming or clicking, and can occur in one ear, both ears or the head.
Supplements: separate marketing from evidence
Supplements are heavily marketed to people with tinnitus. The U.S. National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) says vitamins, herbal extracts and dietary supplements advertised as tinnitus cures have not been proven effective. Our commercial coverage uses that evidence boundary as a starting point.
Evidence before hype
We distinguish manufacturer claims from independent evidence, avoid invented testimonials and do not claim first-hand product use. Where a page contains a compensated link, we disclose that relationship clearly.
